REPSLog lets you opt out of having your data shared for advertising. This guide explains what that sharing is, how to find the opt-out, and what changes once you opt out.
What "Data Sharing" Means Here
To help spread the word about REPSLog to people like you, we share your email address with advertising platforms such as Meta, Google, Microsoft, and LinkedIn. These platforms use it to build "lookalike" audiences: groups of similar people who might also benefit from the app. This is only about advertising reach. It does not involve your logged hours, properties, or any of the work records you keep in REPSLog.
If you would rather not be part of that advertising sharing, you can opt out from inside the app. We will remove you from those advertising lists.
Tip: Opting out of data sharing is separate from deleting your account or your data. It only stops your email from being shared for ad targeting. See the Data Security and Delete Account topics if you want to know how your data is protected or how to remove your account entirely.
How to Opt Out
- Open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom, to the small text that shows your account ID (your user UUID).
- Just below your account ID, tap Do Not Share My Data.
- Read the short explanation in the Do Not Share My Data window that appears.
- Tap Opt me out to confirm. (Tap Cancel if you change your mind.)
After you opt out, you will see a confirmation message: Request received. We'll process it within 15 business days.
What Changes After You Opt Out
- Your request is recorded, and your email is removed from the advertising lists used for lookalike audiences.
- You are automatically removed from Google, Microsoft, and LinkedIn advertising audiences, so your privacy preference is respected across those ad platforms.
- The Do Not Share My Data link disappears from your Settings screen, since you have already opted out.
- Everything else stays the same: your account, your logged hours, properties, categories, and reports are all unaffected.
Troubleshooting
I tapped Do Not Share My Data but then changed my mind. Did anything happen?
No. If you close the window with Cancel (or by dismissing it) instead of tapping Opt me out, nothing is submitted and the Do Not Share My Data link stays visible. Your data sharing preference only changes when you tap Opt me out.
The Do Not Share My Data link is gone. Why?
The most common reason is that you have already opted out. Once your opt-out is on record, the link is hidden so you do not submit it twice. If you sign in with Apple using a private relay email (an address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com), the link is also hidden, because that hidden email is not shared with advertising platforms in the first place.
How long does it take?
We process opt-out requests within 15 business days of receiving them. Removal from the Google, Microsoft, and LinkedIn advertising audiences happens automatically as part of that process.
Will this delete my account or my hours?
No. Opting out only stops your email from being shared for advertising. Your account and all of your data remain in place. To remove your account or data, see the Delete Account topic.
