A passkey lets you sign in to REPSLog with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device unlock (fingerprint or PIN) instead of waiting for a sign-in link by email. This article shows you how to add a passkey and how to use it the next time you sign in.
What Is a Passkey?
A passkey is a faster, safer way to sign in. There is no password to remember and nothing to type. When you sign in, your phone simply asks you to confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device unlock, and you are in.
Your passkey is stored securely on your device. On iPhone it syncs through iCloud Keychain, and on Android it syncs through Google Password Manager, so it can carry over to your other devices automatically.
Tip: A passkey does not replace your other sign-in options. You can always fall back to a magic-link email, or to Google or Apple sign-in, if you need to.
Before You Start
- Passkeys work on iPhone (iOS 16 or newer) and Android (Android 9 or newer), as well as in the REPSLog web app.
- Every account can add a passkey, including accounts that sign in with Google or Apple. The Continue with passkey button on the sign-in screen is shown to everyone, but it only works once you have added a passkey.
How to Add a Passkey
There are a few places to add a passkey. They all do the same thing, so pick whichever you see first.
From the dashboard prompt
After you sign in, you may see a card on your dashboard titled Sign in faster with a passkey.
- Tap Add passkey on the card.
- Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device unlock when your device prompts you.
- That is it. The card disappears once your passkey is saved.
If you would rather not add one now, tap the X in the corner of the card to dismiss it. We will not ask again.
From the Settings banner
At the top of the Settings screen you may see a compact banner that reads Sign in with Face ID next time.
- Tap the banner.
- Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device unlock.
From the Passkeys settings page
You can manage passkeys at any time:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Passkeys.
- Tap Add a passkey.
- Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device unlock.
The Passkeys page lists every passkey on your account, with the date each was added and last used. To remove one, tap the trash icon next to it and confirm. You can keep more than one passkey, for example one per device.
From the post-sign-in prompt
The first time you return after signing in with a magic link, you may see a prompt titled Use Face ID next time?. Tap Add passkey to set one up, or Maybe later to skip it.
How to Sign In with Your Passkey
Once you have added a passkey, you do not need to type your email:
- Go to the sign-in screen. In the app, tap Log In on the welcome screen. On the web, open app.reps-log.com.
- Tap Continue with passkey, under Continue with Google and Continue with Apple.
- Your device shows the passkeys it has saved for REPSLog. Pick yours and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device unlock. You are signed in.
If you have signed in to REPSLog on this device before, it only offers the passkeys that are still on that account, so a passkey you removed does not show up.
Continue with passkey is on iPhone, Android, and the web app, on any device that supports passkeys.
Signing in with your email first
You can still start with your email. Enter it and tap Continue. If your account has a passkey, your device asks you to confirm it with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device unlock.
If the passkey screen appears with two options, Use passkey tries again with your passkey, and Email me a sign-in link instead sends you a magic link to sign in by email.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the option to add a passkey
If you are viewing an account someone shared with you, switch back to your own account first. Passkeys belong to your own sign-in, so Settings > Passkeys only appears there.
You also will not see the option if your device is too old. Passkeys need iOS 16 or newer or Android 9 or newer. On the Passkeys page, a device that cannot use passkeys shows a note saying so.
I am on a new phone and the passkey is not there
Passkeys sync through iCloud Keychain on iPhone and Google Password Manager on Android. Make sure your new device is signed in to the same Apple or Google account and that keychain or password-manager syncing is turned on. If the passkey still does not appear, sign in once with a magic-link email, then add a fresh passkey on the new device from Settings > Passkeys.
I see "This passkey was removed from your REPSLog account"
You removed this passkey in Settings > Passkeys, but a copy is still saved in iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, so your device still offers it. It cannot sign you in. To get back in:
- If your device listed more than one REPSLog passkey, try again and pick a different one.
- Otherwise, sign in with your email (or with Google or Apple if you set up your account that way).
- Delete the old REPSLog passkey from your password manager so your device stops offering it (see I want to stop using a passkey below).
I see "That passkey isn't linked to a REPSLog account anymore" or "We couldn't sign you in with that passkey"
This means the passkey your device offered is no longer linked to your REPSLog account. The most common reason is that it was removed in Settings > Passkeys, but a copy stayed in iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, so your device still offers it. To get back in:
- If your device listed more than one REPSLog passkey, try again and pick a different one.
- Otherwise, sign in with your email (or with Google or Apple if you set up your account that way).
- Open Settings > Passkeys and tap Add a passkey.
- Delete the old REPSLog passkey from your password manager so your device stops offering it (see I want to stop using a passkey below).
Continue with passkey does not offer any passkey
Your device has no REPSLog passkey saved, or it is signed in to a different Apple or Google account than the one you used when you added it. Sign in with your email, then add a passkey on this device from Settings > Passkeys.
Face ID or Touch ID is not working
If your device cannot confirm your identity, or you cancel the prompt, you are not locked out. On the sign-in screen, choose Email me a sign-in link instead to get a magic link by email. You can also still sign in with Google or Apple if you set up your account that way.
I want to stop using a passkey
Open Settings > Passkeys, tap the trash icon next to the passkey you want to remove, and confirm. If it is your only passkey, you will sign in with a magic link (or Google/Apple) next time.
The confirmation reminds you where the passkey is saved. In Chrome, and in the latest app on iOS 26 or Android 15 and newer, REPSLog also asks your password manager to stop offering the removed passkey. Password managers do not always act on this, so check for yourself.
Removing it in REPSLog does not delete the copy saved on your device, so also delete it from your password manager. Otherwise your device may keep offering it when you tap Continue with passkey, and it will not work:
- iPhone: open the Passwords app (or Settings > Passwords on older iOS versions), search for reps-log.com, open the passkey, and delete it.
- Android and Chrome: open Google Password Manager (in your Android settings under Google, or at passwords.google.com), find reps-log.com, and delete the passkey.
