The Overview screen has two rows of ready-made activity tiles, Common Activities and Recurring Activities. Each tile is a typical landlord or short-term rental task. Tap one and a new entry opens with the description, a typical duration and the category already filled in, so logging a routine job takes a property pick and a Save. The tiles are on iPhone, Android and the web app, on every plan.
Where to Find Them
Open the Overview screen and scroll down past your hour counters. Under the line Explore common activities below and add to your log you will see the two rows. Swipe each row sideways to see more tiles.
The tiles change with the view you are in. In the long-term rental view you see landlord tasks such as Communicating with tenants, Coordinating maintenance tasks and Collecting rent and tracking payments. In the short-term rental view you see host tasks such as Managing Guest Communication, Coordinating Cleaning & Turnover and Handling Guest Check-ins & Check-outs.
How to Log an Activity from a Tile
- Tap the tile for the task you did.
- Add a New Entry opens with Services Performed, Hours and Minutes, and Category filled in. The date is today.
- Choose the Property. The tiles never include one, because the same task happens at every property.
- Change the duration if this time took longer or shorter, and change the date if the work was not done today.
- Attach a receipt or photo if you have one.
- Tap Add Entry.
On iPhone and Android, saving takes you back to the Overview. On the web app the form closes and you are still on the Overview. Either way, the hours are counted straight away and you can tap the next tile if you did more than one thing.
Tip: The duration on a tile is a typical figure, not a measurement. Edit it to what the task actually took. For an exact number, start the Timer on the Overview before you begin and let it fill the duration in for you.
Why the Tiles Change Order
Each row is sorted by how often you have tapped each tile over the last three months, with the current month counting most. Tiles you have not used are ordered by how often REPSLog users overall use them. So the tasks you log most drift to the front of the row.
The only thing REPSLog records for this is a monthly count of which tiles you tapped, on your own account. No AI is involved and nothing from your log is sent anywhere to build the list.
What the Tiles Do Not Do
- They do not save an entry by themselves. Nothing is logged until you tap Add Entry, and the saved entry can be edited later like any other.
- They do not include a property. You choose it each time.
- You cannot add your own tiles. If you have a task that is not on the list, log it once and use Duplicate on that entry for repeats, or turn on Add suggested entries (Premium), which learns your own activities from your log and offers them back on the Overview.
Short-Term Rental Hosts
The activity card follows the LTR / STR toggle at the top of the Overview, which appears once you have both long-term and short-term rental properties. In the STR view the tiles are host tasks: Managing Guest Communication, Coordinating Cleaning & Turnover, Handling Guest Check-ins & Check-outs, Restocking Supplies & Amenities, Optimizing Listing Pricing, Performing Minor Repairs & Maintenance, Supervising Cleaning Crews & Contractors and more. The STR view has one row, Common Activities; the Recurring Activities row belongs to the long-term rental list.
A typical changeover between guest stays: tap Coordinating Cleaning & Turnover, pick the listing, set the minutes to what the turnover took and tap Add Entry. Back on the Overview, tap Restocking Supplies & Amenities for the supply run and Managing Guest Communication for the check-in messages. Each entry counts toward that property's goal on the STR view, which is 100 hours per property by default, with a per-property breakdown and a combined total when you have more than one property.
If your cleaner or co-host did the turnover, change Who Performed the Activity? to them before you save. Their hours are listed under yours in the property's breakdown, which is the comparison investors using the STR loophole look at.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the activity tiles on my Overview
Scroll down; the rows sit below the hour counters and the Add a New Entry button. If you were invited to someone else's account with read-only access, the tiles are hidden because you cannot create entries.
The tiles show landlord tasks but I run short-term rentals
The rows follow the view your Overview is in. Switch the Overview to the short-term rental view and the tiles change to host tasks.
I tapped a tile and the form says a field must not be empty
The tile fills in the description, duration and category, but the property is always left for you. Pick one, or choose Unassigned if the work was not tied to a property.
I am on the free plan and Add Entry opens the upgrade screen
The tiles are on every plan, but the free plan allows 5 entries in total. Once you have 5, saving another entry from any source needs Starter or Premium. The 14-day free trial includes unlimited entries.

REPSLog tracks and displays your hours. Whether an activity counts as material participation, and which hour test applies to your properties, are questions for your CPA or tax professional.
