The dashboard (the Overview tab on iPhone and Android, and the first page of the web app) shows your hours against your tracking goal, breaks the year down by property and by category, and gives you shortcuts to log the next entry. This article explains each card, top to bottom, and where the mobile and web layouts differ.
The Overview card
The card at the top shows one big number, a slash and your goal (for example 312 / 750) with a progress bar underneath. What it counts depends on the tracking goal you picked:
- My Total REPS Hours (750-hour goal, the default): only hours logged with Myself as the participant.
- Total Material Participation Hours (500-hour goal): your hours plus your spouse's, with a Myself row and a Spouse row under the bar.
- Per-property rows (100-hour LTR goal, and every STR view): one row per property with its own bar, an Unassigned row for entries without a property, and a Total Hours Combined header when you have more than one property.
Tap the gear icon to change the goal. Tap the chevron on a property row to see the hours split by participant. The bar stops at 100% but the number keeps counting past the goal. See How to Adjust Your Tracking Goal in REPSLog for each option.
Choosing the year
Every card shows one calendar year at a time, based on the date each entry was performed. Once you have entries in more than one year, a calendar button appears next to the logo. Tap it and pick a year in the Overview Year sheet. A small dot on the button reminds you that you are looking at a past year. Switching between LTR and STR resets the picker to the current year.
Switching between LTR and STR
If you have both long-term and short-term rental properties, an LTR / STR toggle appears at the top of the dashboard. Every card follows it, and the app remembers your last choice. If you only have one type, there is no toggle. The Properties setting under Settings (LTR, STR or Both) controls which views exist.
For short-term rental hosts
If you track hours for the STR loophole, the dashboard's STR view is the one to watch. Tap STR in the LTR / STR toggle (if every property you own is a short-term rental there is no toggle and the STR view is the only one). The Overview card then shows one row per short-term rental with its own hours against a 100-hour goal by default, for example 64 / 100 for a cabin and 38 / 100 for a condo, plus a Total Hours Combined header when you have more than one property.
- Per-property rows: each short-term rental fills its own bar. Entries without a property show on an Unassigned row.
- Participants per property: tap the chevron on a row. Your hours and your spouse's are shown as one combined line and fill the bar. Anyone else you logged on that property, such as a cleaner, co-host or property manager, is listed underneath with their own hours, so you can compare their time with yours on that property.
- 100 or 500: tap the gear icon and choose Reach 100 Hours or Reach 500 Hours. The goal applies to every STR row, and the combined header shows the sum.
- Category and year: the STR view keeps its own Total Hours by Category card and its own year picker, separate from the LTR side.
STR hours never count toward the 750-hour REPS total. Whether your rentals qualify, and whether to track them separately or grouped, are questions for your CPA.
Total Hours by Property
One bar per long-term rental, sorted from most to fewest hours, with an Unassigned row for entries that have no property. Properties with no hours this year sit behind a Show N more properties with 0 entries link. This card is hidden on the STR view and in the 100-hour LTR mode, because the Overview card already lists each property there.
Total Hours by Category
One bar per activity category for the selected year, sorted the same way. Entries with no category show as None. If the year has no entries yet the card says No Available Data.
On iPhone and Android both breakdown cards show up to six rows with a Show N more link. On the web app every row is listed in a scrollable panel.
Tip: Before your first entry, the breakdown cards show sample bars marked EXAMPLE with the note "Add entries to see your real data here." Those samples are not counted anywhere and disappear once you log an entry.
Logging from the dashboard
- + Add a New Entry opens the entry form. When you save, you return to the dashboard and the numbers update in place.
- Start Timer (iPhone and Android only) starts a live timer. While it runs the button reads Timer Running or Timer Paused with the elapsed time. The web app does not have the timer button.
- Let's get started lists Step 1 (add a property) and Step 2 (add your first entry) until both are done, plus a short read on how to qualify for REPS or on the STR loophole.
The other cards
- Recent Calendar Events: events from a connected calendar that you can turn into entries. If no calendar is connected the card offers Sync My Calendar.
- Add suggested entries: personalised suggestions based on your own logging history. This is an opt-in AI feature with its own setting.
- Common Activities and Recurring Activities: ready-made activities you can explore and add to your log.
- Our Tax Experts: partner firms you can contact for tax planning.
- Recent Entries (web app only): your four most recent entries for the current view with a View All link to the full log.
Web and mobile differences
- iPhone and Android show one column: Overview, buttons, then the breakdown cards and the rest. The web app shows the Overview widget next to Recent Entries (or Let's Get Started), then the three stats cards in one row.
- The timer button exists on iPhone and Android only.
- A team member with read-only access sees the dashboard without the add-entry and timer buttons.
Troubleshooting
My hours do not add up to what I expect
Check three things: the year selected in the calendar button, the LTR / STR toggle, and the goal mode. In the 750-hour mode only "Myself" hours count; spouse hours appear only in the 500-hour mode and on per-property rows. Entries logged against a property of the other type are on the other side of the toggle.
The Total Hours by Property card is missing
It is hidden on the STR view and in the 100-hour LTR mode. In both cases the Overview card at the top already lists every property with its own bar.
I do not see the calendar button
The button only appears once you have entries in more than one calendar year for the view you are on. If all your entries are in the current year there is nothing to switch to.
I see an "Unassigned" row
Those are entries saved without a property, for example entries created before you added your first property or after a property was deleted with its entries kept. Open each entry from the log and pick a property to move its hours.
The cards show sample data
Cards marked EXAMPLE appear until you have added at least one property and one entry. Add your first entry and the real totals replace them.
